Where exactly does the church ceremony take place at Heidelberg Castle, and how do we find our way?
Our church ceremony will take place in the castle chapel (Schlosskapelle) at Heidelberg Castle. Access is through the main entrance of the castle. From there, simply follow the path straight ahead until you reach an underpass leading to the terrace. You should then find the entrance to the chapel directly there.
Do we need to pay admission for Heidelberg Castle?
No, of course not. For our wedding guests, admission to the palace grounds is free. Just let them know at the main entrance / ticket counter and show your Schwetzingen Palace admission ticket, which you received from us either with the invitation or on the day of the celebration.
Where exactly does the celebration take place at Schwetzingen Palace, and how do we find our way?
Our celebration will take place in the Kammermusiksaal (Chamber Music Hall). Access is through the main entrance of the palace. From there, please head over to the Northern Circular Building (Nördlicher Zirkelbau). Please plan for about a 5-minute walk from the main entrance to the hall.
Do we need to pay admission for the Schwetzingen Palace gardens?
No, of course not. For our wedding guests, admission to the palace grounds (and the beautiful palace gardens) is free on this day. Just let them know at the main entrance / ticket counter and show your admission ticket for Schwetzingen Palace and gardens, which you received from us either with your invitation or on the day of the celebration.
Will there be activities to keep the little ones entertained?
It is very important to us that this is a celebration for everyone, so your children are, of course, warmly welcome! There is plenty of space in and around the venue to explore, run around, and play. We have also set up a kids’ table that they are more than welcome to use.
What happens if it rains? (Plan B)
Don’t worry, we won’t let the weather ruin our mood. If the weather doesn’t play along, our champagne reception won’t take place outdoors. Instead, we will move inside to the Kammermusiksaal (Chamber Music Hall) and the Tagungssaal (Conference Hall). So everything will stay dry and absolutely beautiful anyway.
Are we allowed to take photos in Schwetzingen Palace and the gardens?
Absolutely. The palace gardens offer gorgeous photo backdrops, and you are more than welcome to go wild taking pictures. As long as the photos are for private use, it is absolutely fine.
Are we allowed to throw rice, confetti, or flower petals after the ceremony in the Heidelberg Castle chapel?
Since the castle and chapel are protected historic landmarks, throwing plastic confetti, rice, or real flower petals is unfortunately not allowed indoors, and often outdoors as well. Instead, we have come up with a great alternative that we will have ready for you at the venue [e.g., wedding wands / soap bubbles].
How are food and allergies being handled?
Your culinary well-being is fully taken care of! If you are vegetarian/vegan or have any food intolerances (allergies), please let us know directly when you RSVP so that our caterer can prepare accordingly.
Is there a cloakroom or a room to change clothes?
Yes, there is a cloakroom on-site in the Tagungssaal (Conference Hall) of Schwetzingen Palace where you can leave your jackets and coats. Unfortunately, there isn’t a separate room to change clothes, so it’s best to arrive already wearing your wedding outfit.
How do we get home at night? (Taxis / Shuttles)
Since the palace is centrally located in Schwetzingen, taxis run regularly at night. However, because Schwetzingen is a smaller town, we recommend pre-ordering a taxi in advance or using apps like Uber / local taxi numbers, especially during peak times (such as after midnight or at the very end of the party).
Can we arrive early and look around the castle?
Absolutely, it’s definitely worth it! If you want to arrive early, you can buy regular tickets for the official palace tours (such as the ducal living quarters) or simply take a long stroll through the huge palace gardens (the mosque and the hedge theater are highlights). Our official wedding program in Schwetzingen starts at 5:30 PM.
